759011 2009-03-24 08:11:00 Hi All, I am still here bumbling around.

I recently installed IE8. I don't know if that is the cause of this problem.

I boot Comp, click on OE & wait for it to arrive. Click on Send/Recieve & messages are downloaded. All ok so far.

Click on new message to open it & nothing happens. Wait a while & click X. Dropdown box says, "This program is not responding". Shut down OE & open again. Select message to open & it works. Odd. Any ideas why this happens? Thanks. PJ

759012 2009-03-24 08:21:00 Have you tried sfc /scannow?

Have you compacted your inbox lately?

759014 2009-03-24 17:48:00 sfc /scannow is run from the command prompt.

windows key + R type cmd click enter.

then type sfc /scannow

note the space between sfc /

Windows now scans for missing dll files and probably will ask for your XP CD so have it handy. Once it has finished all boxes will close and hopefully everything is back to normal.

759016 2009-03-27 05:00:00 IE8 is most probably the cause of the problem.

Try this, and if it doesn't work, use system restore to revert to IE7

1.Click Start, and then click Run.

2. Type cmd and press enter

3. Type in this commands, pressing enter after each:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 msjava.dll

reg..... No 1, 3, 4 ok.
reg...No2 & 5 failed.

regsvr32 msdocvw.dll. Was loaded but the DLL register server entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered.

regsvr32 msjava.dll. Load Library (msjava.dll) failed. The specific module could not be found.

I imagine that this means more to you than me? PJ

759018 2009-03-27 07:03:00 msjava.dll wont exist. Since MS's java died years ago. It was replaced by Sun Java

Uninstalling IE 8 should revert back to IE 7. You dont have to use system restore

759020 2009-03-27 07:21:00 Nothing. I think its regsvr32 shdocvw.dll not regsvr32 msdocvw.dll Speedy Gonzales (78)
