759103 2009-03-30 08:57:00 Hi Wainuitech

The Cipher Strength for both pages, done seperately - 1 worked, the other didn't: Bot 128-bit.

Also, I did notice the sticker on the laptop says Windows Vista, but it's definitely Windows XP. None of our work laptops use Vista. Not sure why that is either :thanks The cipher should be 128 at least so 1 is OK.

This is an educated guess - BUT since the laptops came with Vista, but now have XP installed, as mentioned in post 26
Yes this is a new replacement work computer, running on IE 7. Another work colleague has an older laptop that doesn't appear to have any probs logging onto a whole range of sites - and even plugging my laptop onto the network at work today still resulted in the same way. Our boss has the same problem too, but his too is one of the newer models. So I'm guessing it's the settings somewhere.
I suspect who ever did the install of XP on both laptops may have screwed them up. If the OS corrupted, then a complete reinstall done correctly may be the only answer.

You can also try installing IE8, and see if that fixes the problem.

Normally when you buy a Laptop with Vista - you have to have the business edition to roll back to XP - it should come with its own XP Recovery CD's for the laptop (check the Vista COA and see what version it says, if its premium or lower then its not the right version) - Who Ever installed XP should have given you the original recovery CD's.

Two new laptops with the exact same problem in IE7 & XP --- to much of a coincidence - theres a screw up some place.

Edited: just a thought - check this - open IE tools/ Internet Options/ Advanced Tab, scroll down, make sure "use SSL 3.0" and "Use TLS 1.0 " are ticked, NOT SSL2.0 ( near the bottom)

Also about half way make sure Use HTTP 1.1 ( 2 boxes there) are also ticked

Done all this, except the recovery cd thing - we don't have those. Also, reset my IE, now I have to reload it, tried to load IE8 but it kept flicking to the address invalid page. Yippee for me :o)

In simple terms - it cleans out the old settings, and rebuilds new ones, if something is corrupted, doing those commands will clear it and put back a clean ( hopefully) working settings.

Personally I dont think it will fix the problem ( could be wrong) because as it was mentioned, and I replied before

"Two new laptops with the exact same problem in IE7 & XP --- to much of a coincidence - theres a screw up some place"

BTW - you "should" have been given XP CD's or XP recovery CD's by who ever installed it - as well as legal COA's (product keys)
