2007-08-07 07:19:00 | OK The OD ordered a course change...IN Vietnam's waters, and the rookie on the helm was required to call back the course every ten degrees or so by general orders..but after a while the OD realized that he hadn't heard anything from the wheelhouse, so he walked over and stood above me on the Tac/Plot board and using the 21MC, he asked the helmsman what he was doing. "Sir I am coming to course zero-zero-zero, as ordered Sir!" "Well...what's taking you so long to steady up, lad?" "Sir...I've passed the first zero and the second zero and I'm coming up on the last zero right now". And then again:- www.snopes.com Time only really matters at times:- I would not like to be late for work, but I have been, as I have a life so far. I would not like to be late to see my child being born. I would not like to live in the U.S.A. as people whom reside in New Zealand see the new day first. This means the U.S.A. is backward and therefore always late. At times I am early. This is a waste of time but it allows for unexpected events. For example I have a tyre go flat and have to change it. This would take time. Hopefully I will not be early for my Funeral but who knows? By then I will not care! If the people whom run the server can not get the time correct then there is something wrong. This does not concern me very much however. Surfer.... Could you please excuse the reference to the U.S.A. above. This was very much tongue in cheek. :) I left it there for a talking point.

2007-08-07 09:16:00 | Haha! just when you thought we were through with the forum clock, I spring this poll on you guys. So get voting compadres! Why? What are you suggesting? A poll vote's needed to decide whether a clock should be fixed? (Avatar enthusiasts started countless threads for yonks with no success. Then avatars arrived suddenly merely because Bruce & Co. decided they were OK. Nobody's suggesting this forum is a democracy, after all) I'd have thought it would be more embarrassing for a sponsored computer forum to look incapable of accurate timekeeping than any "fun bonus" it gives the Mods. But that's been said before (Eh, Foxy? Eh, Bletch? ) As have several other reasons I can't be bothered regurgitating now. So what's the point of this poll? Why should anyone bother with it, unless they've nothing better to do? ( And if so, who cares what time a post displays? )

2007-08-07 09:48:00 | I'm of the belief that PF1 is part of some secret research being conducted by psychiatrists on how a simple thing like a website displaying the incorrect time can induce such a range of emoticons. :p I think they are going in for the kill right now to see how many can be pushed over the edge ...

2007-08-07 10:00:00 | Thanks for that warning, Jen. It means I'll let go my white-knuckle grip on the mouse & pour myself a glass of something soothing. A glass seems a better choice right now than a cup. P.S. Wonder what the psychiatrists will make of Jan? (Man who takes joy in the frustrations of others...)

You had to let go of the mouse in order to post. Unless you use one hand to grip the mouse and the other hand for the keyboard. I just knew ladies can multitask. Being a mere male I can multitask as well. I have been known to sit on a toilet AND read a newspaper at the same time. I doubt very much if I could read the newspaper whilst standing at the same piece of equipment. A cup or a glass? Why not use a cup and make a coffee then insert the spirit of your choice? :-) Sometimes I use a goblet or a chalice. :D Every now and then I consume iced coffee from a tall glass. |
