758890 2009-03-30 21:05:00 Thanks Chill. I did follow those guides through, although only set it up as a Client Bridge. Connecting to a D-link DI-524UP. So that may be the issue. Will look into that.

And it's nothing to do with blocked ports sorry speedy, i've set up all the necessary port fowrards, and its not just Xbox live that stops working. When it works it works really well :)

while you are on this subject..
and apology for hijacking the thread!
have you connected any USB printers to the wl-520gu?
And if so does it work satisfactory?
Thanks

I tried, but it turns out the printer I had had such a small memory printing took for ever:lol:

After getting a new, better printer, printing worked fine. Just use the tomato USB firmware pointed out in a thread eariler.

Setting up the printer should be as simple as installing the printer on the PCs, then changing the port to a new Standard TCP/IP port pointing to your routers IP.

758892 2009-03-30 21:20:00 Darn missed the edit.

On the other hand, IF you're just using it as a regular AP and it still happens (Which I doubt) then we're back to the drawing board .. ;)

Cool. Ill do that tonight hopefully. Is there a list of the known 'dodgy' non-linux routers around somewhere? I thought I saw one on the DD-WRT site at one stage but cant seem to track it down now. Or I may have imagined it...

758893 2009-03-30 21:37:00 Well your D-Link is in the list here of known incompatible devices that you cant flash it onto:
www.dd-wrt.com
But that doesnt mean it cant work with it in repeater-bridge mode.

Try grabbing the latest firmware here:
www.dd-wrt.com Fsvn11793/
You'd be after the one: dd-wrt.v24-11793_NEWD_std.bin

Apparently the newer unofficial builds have fixed the issue with using dodgy AP's like the D-Link when your DD-WRT is in repeater mode :)

Thanks blam6
It just looks like my canon s6300 might be one of those to"old" machines for such a setup. Though it works to well to be thrown away.

758896 2009-03-31 05:10:00 Righto. New firmware, same problems. :horrified

Will set it up as an AP and see how that goes. :badpc:
