2009-03-26 02:49:00 | Well guys I thought I had it all sussed but the Back up tool is proving problematic 1. It doesn't always show in Outlook. I fiddle around opening /closing folder in outlook and it will reappear. When I click backup, it ptoduces the option to backup the PST files and the location to where it is to be backed up to. I choose my external hard drive. When I click Backup., nothing shows in that drive. Any suggestions as to why? and what I can do about it. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling several times but the same thing happens each time. 2. I also get this Script Error dialogue Box appear in Outlook "An error has occurred on this page. Line: 296 Char: 1 Error: Access is denied Code: 0 URL: outlook://Personal%20Folders/ Do you want to continue running scrip;ts on this page? Yes/No What does all this mean and what do I need to do about it????? Thanks for your help

2009-03-26 02:57:00 | The backup option will only work AFTER Outlook is closed so therefore will not work immediately. I am prompted daily to do the backup after I close outlook. | Sweep (90) | |
2009-03-26 03:13:00 | Hi Sweep, thanks for replying. I am not sure what you mean when you say you are prompted to do the back up after you close outlook. Are you infering that once you have set the options to back up daily, and only when Outlook is closed, the back up dialogue box will open for you to press saved backup? Also why is the Last Back up not identified after i got the thing working while Outlook was open yesterday? Sorry to be a pain but I am struggling to understand here:) Also any ideas on the cript error which seems to occur only when I open Personal Folders- Outlook Today ? | smurf (6545) | |
2009-03-26 03:42:00 | No idea on the script error sorry. When I have outlook open and click file > backup I get a dialogue box which tells me the date and time of the last backup. In options you can set the frquency of the backup and also location. You can also save a backup or open a backup. If I click save I get a dialogue that tells me that outlook will need to exit before it can backup unless you already ticked the box that says do not show this again. If you open a backup you can restore items but if I needed to do that I would import the items I wanted.

2009-03-26 03:51:00 | ahhhh I don't get that dialogue that says Outlook needs to exit.........grr...any clues? Nor do I get the date and time of the last backup. | smurf (6545) | |
2009-03-26 03:58:00 | This is only a guess - but the reason It may be refusing to back up could be a USB drive - it may not detect the path correctly. Mine backs up to a Networked Server - so it has a fixed location, unlike a USB drive that may change. Mine like sweeps, backs up daily AFTER I close outlook. But it seems to do it at different times of the day - that I cant figure out why. As a trial, make a folder on the PC, select it to back up to, see if it does it correctly. As for dates - mine simply says "Outlook backup" doesn't have dates, the new one simply overwrites the existing one. Edited: This is the Box (www.imagef1.net.nz) you should be getting doing it manually.

2009-03-26 04:14:00 | Mine is like Wainuitechs' but is backed up to a folder on a local hard drive not USB. Try like he says. Then copy the result to a USB drive. | Sweep (90) | |
2009-03-26 06:57:00 | Thanks Sweep and WT......I will try backing up to a folder in my docs and see what happens. I certaionly don't get the dialogue box to which you refer. | smurf (6545) | |
