577532 2007-08-07 04:32:00 Bollocks to that. Put the blame where it mostly lies, and deal to it.

Here I was thinking it's a complex problem that will only respond to a complex solution.

577534 2007-08-07 05:20:00 Stunning. This is like the internet version of talkback radio.

You think it's pretty much a Maori thing? And not a Polynesian thing? This is your impression? What experiences do you draw from in order to form this impression?

I invite your comment.

577535 2007-08-07 07:03:00 because the Pacific Islanders really look after their kids.
Sure they do.

Back on topic, is it just me or are most owners of dangerous dogs Maori/Pacific Islanders? It seems to me all dog-attack cases on the media reveal Maori/Pacific Islanders owning the attacker dogs.

Please be aware that I am not implying any racism in this post. It's just my perception regarding this matter.

Some modern hip-hop music videos (I hardly call today's hip-hop music) shows the singer (usually black people, like 50 cent, akon, those 'musicians') with barking dogs. These dogs are obviously Pit Bulls. I can recall one video showing, in slow motion, a Pit Bull chasing a Poodle down the road. Can't remember who made the video, but it is still a popular music/video. As we all may know, most Maori/Pacific Islanders listen to these kind of music far more than the average European/Asian, right? Is it possible that the modern 'hip-hop' culture endorse and encourage watchers/listeners to own and train dangerous dogs?

Another thing I'd like to point out is the horrendous so-called 'sport' dogfighting. From time to time, I read in the local papers of neanderthals being caught stealing dogs. They were then found to have the dogs to be tortured into dangerous fighting dogs. And the names that were disclosed were nearly always Maori/Pacific Islander names. Why is that? I don't see a reason why the media would be nit-picking two particular races to expose. They wouldn't get any further ratings for that. Besides, this is the free local paper I'm talking about.

You can reject this all you want, but I believe the fact is that there are many irresponsible and heinous owners of dogs deemed as dangerous, and most of these irresponsible and heinous owners seem to be Maori/Pacific Islanders.

577536 2007-08-07 07:07:00 9 yr old supervising a toddler by water isnt on it, it cant be legal.

Its pretty much a Maori thing I think, not polynesian because the Pacific Islanders really look after their kids.

It was a park...........

As for your second comment the bruised dead kid they showed on TV last night was beaten to death by his polynesian parents.

The Nia family are Cook Islanders.

And you are a jerk.

577537 2007-08-07 07:27:00 I agree a lot of negative statistics in NZ are Maori and Pacifi Islanders.

But a lot of European skin head types own pit bulls etc, and wear black jeans.

No, a degree in rocket science isn't necessary. Rocket science deals in three dimensions.

To understand your position I need only think in one dimension.

Myth, please do not put it that way.

I do not condemn all Maori and Pacific Islanders as criminals. I in fact have numerous Maori and Pacific Islander mates who I have to admit with free will, are good natured people.

Heck, I even have a couple of Maori friends who belongs to the local 'Bloods' gang. They started as good people, but they somehow found their own ways down a chaotic spiral slide. I'm still close friends to them, nevertheless.
