577367 2007-08-07 02:35:00 I noticed the calendar and the post time, but not that. pcuser42 (130)
577368 2007-08-07 04:34:00 Hijack here...WARNING!

Why does youse guys forum "clock" marks on the posts misreport the time immediately after midnight as (example here) 12:01AM to 12:59AM?

I noticed this on the time stamps on the upper left corner of the blocks of the posts..(you know...like on the same wrong side of the road youse guys drive on).

I am not being anal about this...this is just a heads up..OK?

I have a plethora of other things about which to be anal and don't need another right now.

577369 2007-08-07 04:58:00 Joe, It's because most people don't understand time and can't cope with the idea of a "zero" first hour . It's not just "us guys" either . . . I'd bet that the forum software came from your part of the world .

24 hour time is far more sensible, and it avoids the a . m . and p . m . nonsense . Most people don't understand that, either . :(

Of course, all good people should be in bed at that time, not making postings to forums .

Only a plethora, Joe? Why not try for a myriad?

577370 2007-08-07 05:10:00 I'll tell you about the night I was on the bridge of a large aircraft carrier in VietNam and we had a rookie helmsman who was given the order to "Come to new course, zero-zero-zero..........."

And he did........

577371 2007-08-07 05:14:00 You were already in trouble when you left the sea and started going cross-country "in" Vietnam. This is reminiscent of the sad tale of the British submarine which collided with a bicycle. The cyclist was riding along the beach. Graham L (2)

And now perhaps you can
see why we thinks Americans are different.
I thought was nicely put.

OK

The OD ordered a course change . . . IN Vietnam's waters, and the rookie on the helm was required to call back the course every ten degrees or so by general orders . . but after a while the OD realized that he hadn't heard anything from the wheelhouse, so he walked over and stood above me on the Tac/Plot board and using the 21MC, he asked the helmsman what he was doing .

"Sir I am coming to course zero-zero-zero, as ordered Sir!"

"Well . . . what's taking you so long to steady up, lad?"

"Sir . . . I've passed the first zero and the second zero and I'm coming up on the last zero right now" .
