758940	2009-03-24 04:43:00	I have just downloaded and tried to install Internet Explorer 8. It gets to "Installing Windows Internet Explorer Core Components...", hangs there at 100% CPU usage for something like 10 minutes, and then says the setup did not complete. When I restart the computer and try again like it says to do, the same thing happens. What's going on? Do I have to manually uninstall IE 7 first? I have tried disabling and uninstalling my antivirus program, which doesn't help.	samnorr (13776)

I have just tried again now and looked at what was going on, by using Anvir Task Manager while it was installing. The CPU didn't seem to be used much this time, but the disk load was reaching 100%. The main thing that Anvir said was causing this was Windows Update, which was sometimes being replaced by Windows Service Pack Installer and then Windows Service Pack Uninstaller. This seems a bit strange to me - why would it be messing around with service packs (I have SP3, BTW) while installing an internet browser? All this was going on when it said it was installing Core Components, like I said in my first post. Obviously, it still didn't work.	samnorr (13776)
758943	2009-03-26 01:28:00	You did get the correct version for XP ?? There are several versions, for XP, Vista and servers. The XP and other downloads are Here (www.microsoft.com). I have also read several people have had problems if they have Adobe Reader 9 installed- they removed it and IE8 Went in fine.	wainuitech (129)

I have also read several people have had problems if they have Adobe Reader 9 installed- they removed it and IE8 Went in fine. You can post a log, if you want No, I don't think any of those are installed except Google Toolbar and Windows Live Login Helper Object - which I have tried disabling (along with all the other add ons), with still no luck . My Java version is only Version 6 Update 7 though . Would it be possible for that to be affecting the installation somehow?
