| 758880 | 2009-03-24 01:06:00 | Right, got the following, it's set up with Tomato and working as a wireless-ethernet bridge. Setup was simple. Except at this stage im struggling with constant wireless dropouts when the router is under load (upwards of 100kb/sec throughput). A laptop in the same location works no hassle at much faster speeds. The network is encrypted in WPA personal. Would be interested to hear from anyone who uses this router with any firmware on it, any issues you have with it, which firmware you think is best, tips, pointers, expreiences...etc. Cheers. |

| 758881 | 2009-03-24 01:26:00 | I originally had a few dropouts, but I then reconfigured it as a repeater and its been fine so far. The print server/usb storage function is quite useful, grab the USB tomato firmware, and upgrade it from your current tomato firmware. Its no perfect but great when sharing small files. Everything is quite simple with tomato, rarely have had any problems with it. Although my printing keeps stuffing up:p You can plug in a USB hub to the routers USB port to extend the amount of USB ports. My router also ran quite hot when I had it as an AP, but its fine now. | 758882 | 2009-03-24 02:15:00 | Cheers Blam, so you have it running as a repeater and ethernet bridge under tomato? I plan on re-configuring it this evening, was a bit of a learning curve for me last night, and I understand it a lot better now. Which option did you use in the wireless setup to achieve that? |

| 758883 | 2009-03-30 09:14:00 | Hmm... still constant dropouts, no matter what the throughput. Using it mainly for Xbox live. Tried the original firmware, DD-WRT and Tomato, all have the same issue. Beginning to wonder if it's some kind of obscure hardware issue with the router. I'm going to set it up as a standard AP and see if it still drops out. | wratterus (105) | ||
| 758884 | 2009-03-30 10:25:00 | Does it have a DMZ option in the router for wireless?? It'll probably be better putting it on DMZ if you can The Xbox here wouldnt connect to the net, (mine is wired tho), until I rang Dlink And they said it'll be better removing everything out of the router / resetting it Then adding the Xbox to DMZ (since it'll bypass everything). And yup, sure enough it worked fine. Managed to get it to connect to Live and to the PC (thru WMP 11) |

| 758885 | 2009-03-30 12:02:00 | It shouldnt require anything DMZ-related, in fact I'd say its the opposite of what most people wanna do (Put it in DMZ). Have you followed instructions here for the Repeater-Bridge: pressf1.co.nz Just to clarify, is it being used as a wireless repeater / bridge? If-so, whats the make / model of the router you're connecting to? As some non-linux-based routers dont play as nice as others. I can stream a 720p movie over wireless just fine here, using a combination of the Asus WL-520gU, Linksys WRT54Gv5 & the Asus WL-520gC. No funky config required ;) In fact, I'll quote the website: www.dd-wrt.com We are currently experiencing Client Bridge and Repeater Bridge problems when the host is a non-Linux based router. On the other hand, IF you're just using it as a regular AP and it still happens (Which I doubt) then we're back to the drawing board .. ;) |

Blam blam6 while you are on this subject.. and apology for hijacking the thread! have you connected any USB printers to the wl-520gu? And if so does it work satisfactory? Thanks |

Its not a sin now to have them there, happens all the time. Im blaming Xnet and their crappy internet as of late. Regardless, your post appears rather snide and is not appreciated. |
