| 758814 | 2009-03-24 00:45:00 | The X in the extension is for office 07 .docx And it's a right royal pain in the butt. All these Govt departments and educational institutions rush out and get the latest & greatest then nobody can read their correspondence any more. Fortunately I found a free docx to doc conversion program somewhere and was able to open them again. Can't remember where but if anybody strikes the reverse problem to calico, it's a quick and easy search to find. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 758815 | 2009-03-24 00:50:00 | Also a real simple fix - MS supply Free the Office Converter Pack (www.microsoft.com). it does two things basically - IF a person is using an older version of Office, Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003, and someone sends a 07 file, when you open the program, word, Excel etc, it converts it on the fly. It also adds in the option to "save As" office 07 as well. |

| 758818 | 2009-03-25 04:43:00 | Problem was caused by default software 'open office' as I did not have word 2003 installed. To 'save as' to my comp brought the return of Microsoft office 2007 as the default, as it would save in 'open office' but not transfer cleanly. | calico (14742) | ||
