| 760131 | 2009-03-27 22:00:00 | Hi, Last night I completed a fresh install of XP pro on my desktop. Windows firewall is turned off, nothing else installed yet. Since then I have not been able to connect through the network card to my network. I can connect to the router via USB, but not through the normal cable. When i put the plug in to the network port the light comes on the network card but I can't seen to get any action. I tried a different lead and had the same problem. I tested that same lead & network connection through another computer and it worked fine, so i know the router and cable are fine and feel the issue must be at the PC. The right light also comes up on the router when I plug in the network cable to it must be getting some signal out. Under network connections I have a 1394 net adapter and have it set to automatically obtain Ip addresses. I have tried to ping the router from the desktop and it doesn't get a response. Pinging it from the other computer works fine. So, have I got something wrong in my settings or have I got a faulty network card? Thanks. |

| 760132 | 2009-03-27 22:04:00 | Did you install the LAN drivers? Dont touch the 1394 adapter thats firewire, not the Network card If the 1394 icon is the only icon in network connections, the NIC drivers havent been installed You'll have to find out what the brand / model of the motherboard is. Go to the site, download the LAN drivers, then install them You'll also have to install everything else (the chipset drivers / soundcard drivers (if you want sound) Windows installs the firewire drivers and USB. But not sound, the LAN, or the chipset / videocard drivers. You have to go to the site (for whoever made them), then download the drivers then install them Or if theyre on CD, install them from the CD |
