759952 2009-03-27 02:38:00 I have Vista home premium SP1 and have used the sniptool.
Noticed the shortcut icon has changed to the first one on the icons list. The shortcut target says "%SystemRoot%\system32\SnippingTool.exe" but can't click on anything else.
The only reference in the drive is to the sniptool icon which says 269kb .exe program ( doesn't open ) in "windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-tabletpc-snippingtool_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_ cfb2f7da0cc08338"
I have the Vista disk, is it poss to reinstall sniptool from that.
Any help thanks.

759953 2009-03-27 04:26:00 # Launch an Office 2007 application, such as Microsoft Word 2007.
# Click the Microsoft Office logo button in the top, left corner of the application window.
# Click the application options button, such as Word Options.
# In the Word Options dialog box, select Resources in the menu on the left.
# Click Diagnose

Let it run, and snipping tool should be repaired.

Otherwise go run>cmd>sfc /scannow

Note Space bteween "c" and "/"

759954 2009-03-27 07:32:00 First turn it off ( yeah sounds silly but its not)

Click on Vista Start button, and go to Control Panel.
Click on Programs link. (Programs and features if in classic mode)
Click on Turn Windows features on or off link. If User Account Control pops up for confirmation, click on Continue button.
Scroll down the list of features in Windows Features dialog window, UNtick the check box for Tablet-PC Optional Components

It will take several minutes, once rebooted, do the exact same, but this time put the tick back.
reboot and the snipping tool should have reinstalled.

759955 2009-03-27 20:06:00 Yes thanks already done. I did some research and found that it is part of the tablet PC which I had disabled after reading the "How to-12 Vista features". Probibly needs a note on that about the snipping tool. cee60 (14757)
759956 2009-03-27 21:04:00 yep - Not many people know that the snipping tool is part of Tablet-PC Optional Components - I only found that out a couple of weeks ago when a customer had the same problem.

Her son decided to "speedup the laptop" by disabling many things and not knowing what he was doing.

759957 2009-03-28 07:21:00 Thanks, wt, for showing me where the snipping tool was 'hidden'! I won't use it much but it looks a good one. linw (53)
759958 2009-03-28 07:32:00 No worries - To me it seemed an odd place to put such a tool, and hide it - But we are talking Microsoft here I suppose. wainuitech (129)
759959 2009-03-28 08:25:00 That is a useful peice of knowledge.

Weird Place to put it.

Thanks WT:)
