759923 2009-03-26 23:46:00 Hi Folks

Desktop is an HP Pavillion running Windows XP. The download folder has been present to the desktop an i would like to change this. Unfortunately the normal lep files associated with XP have been overwritten by HP owns help system and I can't find any logical information rthat would set me on the right track to be able to change the location of the download files. Can anybody enlighten me as to how i could go about this please? Thanks

759924 2009-03-26 23:56:00 I Assume you mean download folder for IE, if not then when downlaoding something, select the location Via the drop down box.

if it is IE, then See if this helps (forums.techarena.in)

759925 2009-03-27 01:08:00 Thanks WT. I went to listed page as per your instructions and found what applies to Internet Explorer.......then the penny dropped; We are using Firefox, and so I started exploring possibilities for the solution and came across under Tools/Options/Main tab an option to change the default download directory. So all done now thanks. BTW it appears that the default location for Firefox is always the Desktop. smurf (6545)
759926 2009-03-27 01:25:00 What I do it-I download to my downloads folder, then Belvedere (lifehacker.com) groups my downloaded files into different folders. Much neater and keeps everything organised.

You should try it out, very useful once you've set it all up right.

759927 2009-03-27 01:40:00 On the rear occasion that I use FF these days, I have it set to always ask. That setting as you mentioned:Tools / Options/ main Tab/ Downloads --- always ask me where to save downloads. That way you can put the files any place you desire. wainuitech (129)
