580367 2007-08-13 07:32:00 Quite often I have noticed and probibly you as well that some posts that a person has asked for help etc that after people have tried to help them etc that they never come back to let you know what the out come was. I think this is rather rude.

580369 2007-08-13 07:37:00 Some people just want help and not be part of a community plod (107)
580370 2007-08-13 07:38:00 Yes, that can be considered a bit ungrateful of them after people have put time into trying to help them out. It is nice finding out whether your suggestions helped them (or not). However, that is life.

I sometimes ask for feedback as a prompt, eg "Let us know how you get on".

580371 2007-08-13 07:47:00 I too, have noticed this over time.

Again though, some people post questions that do not contain all the facts. So people whom do want to help need to ask ask other questions which hopefully elicits the cause of the problem.

I agree that if a problem is solved in PressF1 the poster should get back and thank our collective efforts and mention the fix.

580374 2007-08-13 09:47:00 i think some runaway in fear from some comments (especially those who are not so good at english), some get the fix and just take off happy they are fixed, some are just dumb and possibly some just make a thread for a bit of attention.

Im pretty sure though they would thank you for your help. If not i guess just dont help them.

580376 2007-08-13 10:24:00 Yep, it is hard asking questions in the 1st place. I wait in trepidation to be mocked by someone who knows better/more, then slink away feeling humbled before thinking of saying thanks (especially when it comes to my love/hate relationship with Linux!!!).

I think a lot of people get scared off even asking and as Rob said, it's hard if their spelling/language/lack of English is made fun of.

I have heard that other forums are much less forgiving though, so maybe that's why people ask here instead.

So, for all those wonderful people who help me with my silly questions without a second thought- here is a big thanks to you
