2007-08-11 23:33:00 | The roll out is too slow. At the moment they're doing 15 exchanges every three months. If we can show New Zealanders are screaming out for decent broadband then that can only be a good thing." Someone should give this forums address to them....

2007-08-11 23:37:00 | Let the deals begin, although 1GB @ $20 capped from Vodafone is ok but not great. | winmacguy (3367) | |
2007-08-11 23:37:00 | Yesterday, hours after Government-backed Orcon announced it was offering customers 20GB of broadband, plus free line rental and unlimited national toll calls for $79.95 a month, more than 1200 people had signed up. 1200 people... thats huge for a few hours!

2007-08-11 23:38:00 | Yeah that Orcon deal looks very appealing! On 2nd thoughts it looks absolutely fantastic as long as it doesn't get totally snowed under.

2007-08-11 23:59:00 | That orcon deal is pretty bad ass but limited to 5000. | rob_on_guitar (4196) | |
2007-08-12 00:07:00 | That orcon deal is pretty bad ass but limited to 5000. For the time being, it should open up to more subscribers as more exchanges are opened up to them (in theory anyway)

2007-08-12 00:11:00 | I would expect to see Telecom reacting fairly quickly otherwise their share price will take a big hit as a result. It looks like we are in for exciting times over the next 12 months or so:thumbs: I am looking very favourably at that Orcon deal at the moment, just waiting to see what Xtra is going to respond with.(I am with Xtra)

2007-08-12 00:54:00 | Homeline: $44.95 per month Homeline Plus: call waiting, call minder and caller ID $59.95 Orcon Homeline and Homeline Plus both include wiring and maintenance insurance in the monthly fee. This is compulsory. TalkEasy: $20 Make as many calls as you want from your home phone to other land lines in New Zealand. Each call can be up to 1 hour in length. Special Here is the deal: 1. Sign up for the brand new Orcon Talker Surfer plan 2. We will then give you an Orcon Homeline FREE for 12 months (valued at $41). If you go over your 20GB data cap on your Talker/Surfer Broadband plan you will be charged overage fees according to the Autosense model ($10 per 5GB). The special is good but how long does it last? Their standard homeline is pretty expensive.

2007-08-12 01:01:00 | That orcon deal is pretty bad ass but limited to 5000. They may extend the deal to another 5000 by the looks of things. They're loosing money but I honestly think Orcon knows how to play the competitive game. Saying that, they invested heavily in a robust Juniper core system so I'm sure qos and value for money will be high on their priority list making them an attractive ISP for everyday kiwis. Watch this space. Once someone gets the ball rolling, the rest will follow... they have to!
