580843 2007-08-18 06:02:00 As promised, the update:
I now have a motherboard, cpu, case, cd-burner (lots of thanks to Sarel for this :D)
Still awaiting some parts to arrive, but will still need a mouse (ps2 preferred). Laura, what sort was yours?

Myth, it's a Genius optical - but USB, not PS2.

I was hoping I also had a PS2 converter, but turns out I'd forgotten I gave that away to a young cousin.

Happy to send the mouse if you can use it, though?
Maybe another PF1er has a PS2 converter they'd donate?

Laura: I have got a USB to PS2 converter. On the other hand, I too have a PS2 mouse.

Cheers :)

Now that's an interesting exercise in the English language - in which you have so much interest...

On the face of it - as we say - you are simply stating 2 facts about your possessions.

Reading between the lines - as we say - there's an assumption that you're prepared to give up one of those?

But communication stops there. More information is needed before decisions can be made..
The ball - as we say - seems now to be in your court...

580848 2007-08-18 09:23:00 No problems. Rob[_on_guitar] is sending me a mouse.

Incidentally Rob, you have mail :)

Hi Laura. Well, it is certainly true that I am prepare to give up either one of the gadgets.

(I have a strong feeling that I have missed your point)

Cheers :)

Sorry if I was too obscure.

My point was that you hadn't actually made yours.
(In your own mind, maybe - but not in the vagaries of the English language)

In other words, you didn't say plainly whether you were prepared to donate: (1) the PS2 mouse - or
(2) just the PS2 converter.

If you meant (1), I needn't send my mouse to Myth.
But if you meant (2), I should start delving in cupboards for some packaging.

And meanwhile it seems that Rob on guitar has beaten us both to it...
Well done, Rob!

As an aside, what's this "Jamuz" change mean?
Nothing wrong with a perfectly good name like James.
Or is there a point here that I'm missing?

Just check the cr*p to see if they all work - as I said they were working previously, but you never know.
