The NZ cop would shoot anyway and let his mate the boss sort it out later. And probably deny everything.

I was going to say earlier that if anyone on this forum thinks that our police are too tough should think again, since in many other countries you wouldn't be able to say such things online for fear of being thrown in jail and having your voting hand chopped off for speaking out against the government.

I take it that would make our cops a lot better.

580097 2007-08-14 11:03:00 Um, watched the news recently, say the last 2 years or so? There's been nothing but stories about dishonest cops and cops who broke the same rules they are supposed to uphold.

Actually its only a small group ruining it for the rest. And of course the media acting like a bunch of hounds on heat regurgitating the same old story.

Our police do a bloody good job i rekon considering the amount of restrictions and lack of resources they have.

you never hear of the good stuff they do.

Anyways, bloody good joke:p

580098 2007-08-14 11:46:00 Good joke.

Just to be boring,

The Aussie Cop probably would have been stabbed anyway

"However, there seems to be a consensus among practitioners and researchers alike that police marksmanship in real-life (scene of a crime) situations is less than desirable, something along the order of one hit for every six shots (Morrison 2002)."

Although the CSI Miami boss seems to kill an amazing number of bad guys with 1 shot :)

Presuming the US cop got lucky with his 1st few rounds the good grouping would have been from the 2nd magazine point blank into a dead body.

"Research also indicates the most effective distance for training police officers at combat shooting is at the 7-foot line since that is the range at which most encounters are experienced."

580099 2007-08-14 20:39:00 My ex-brother-in-law was a LA cop in the Wilshire District . . kinda uppity thugs with pearl handled weapons if you catch my drift .

He told me of the time he had a justified shooting of a very large Samoan and his twin brother trying to rip his head off while he was trying to subdue the mother of the two guys . . . the woman was the real threat anyway . . . . she outweighed my B-in-Law by about double his weight and width .

At less than four feet, he emptied his 9MM at both of the sumo-twins and missed them with every shot .

I think they had some serious powder burns on them though .

So . . . even an LA cop doesn't always kill a perp when it is justified . . . even though the cop is trying with all his training to take control of a very out-of-control situation .

He suffered two broken arms, a fractured jaw and is blind in his right eye from one of them eye-gouging him . He lost a thumb on his left hand where one of the cannibals bit it off .

They got off with a warning and probation because the mom said "They are both good boys who wouldn't harm anyone and the police didn't like them because they are a minority!"
