578981 2007-08-10 06:34:00 Hello All,
Just yesterday my phone was lost from school. I looked for it but it was nowhere near where i had been that day, so i was wondering if someone perhaps took it. So i filled in a lost/theft form thingemabob but i doubt this will be much use so i was wondering about phone tracking - is it possible to track your phone via the net because my battery will prob still be trucking along i suspect thus locating signal so is it poss to find an approximate location on it using my cell number or some number on the box? (like the esn???)
Thanks a Bunch,
Tyrone

578982 2007-08-10 07:22:00 Kiss your phone bye bye. If you lost it at school, either someone at school will keep it or flog it off on TM.

And if it's Vodafone, I really hoped you backed up your sim card.

This is one of the reasons I don't buy fancy phones and go for the low end.

Which you can’t do anyway, so Tyroneb has lost everything on it as well.

Ok, let me clarify that then.

What the hell are you talking about this time Stu? You sincerely think you can't back up information from Sim cards?

578988 2007-08-10 20:30:00 Unless some honest person picks it up and hands it in, it's more than likely a gone-burger .

If a 'casually honest' person picks it up, and the phone isn't a high-end, popular, easily resaleable one it may get handed in (this is possibly more likely if it's on the Telecom network, since they are not as easily 'converted' - no SIM card) .

Unfortunately, your question about tracking the signal from the phone is a myth, perpetuated by the likes of TV programmes like CSI - see page 71 of the latest PC World .

578990 2007-08-10 21:03:00 My Daughters high school just caught a student that had been stealing phones. She was an asian foreign exchange girl and her parents had limited her funds so she started stealing. Nice to see some get caught.

Search Trademe for backup sim card
