760239 2009-03-28 16:40:00 So it's time for a new pc. or atleast some newer components. I'm thinking of getting the MSI "K9N2GM-FD"($110.99) Motherboard or the XFX "GeForce 8200"($104.99)[ which are both micro ATX since thats what my existing tower is made to fit] with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5800+ Processor($89.99) . I'm trying to cut costs because times are tuff but i need to upgrade my pc. I'm also thinking of getting Corsair XMS2DHX 2048MB Dual Channel PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory($48.99) if anybody has any better ideas for the same price or even cheaper that would be awesome. My computer use consists mostly of Torrent file sharing and uploading and looking at photos, and average internet surfing.
Again thanks a lot. and all the prices are in Canadian dollars.

You do realise this is a New Zealand forum? So we can't quite vouch for Canadian stores and prices.

760241 2009-03-28 20:44:00 MSI "K9N2GM-FD" Corsair XMS2DHX 2048MB Dual Channel PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory .

I'd go with either Gigbyte or ASUS. They all have mATX as well.

Corsair is good.

Make sure you use a reputable shop with good after sales service - you'll have to ask on your local forums for that.

760242 2009-03-28 21:54:00 i know this is a NZ forum but computers are stil computers there right. Just busting your balls. Thanks for the info will look into those brands just gave canadian prices swo as to not confuse someone thinking holly **** 119 that costs 205 here or whatever, but again thanks. Also if someone could tell me the better of the two inamed that would be a big help too. ChRiStOpHeR1978 (14764)
760243 2009-03-28 23:08:00 What do you use the computer for? pantera989 (14533)
760244 2009-03-28 23:56:00 For the Mobo I would recommend the Asus M3N78
Since you don't do much gaming you won't need a discrete GFX card, and that mobo has reasonable integrated GFX.

Memory is good, stick with reliable brands such as Corsaid/GSkill/OCZ etc

Personally I reckon for your needs even a Athlon 64 X2 5000+ will be sufficient.
