| 582420 | 2007-08-18 08:57:00 | So I got a call from my brother last night and he just bought a new Panasonic SC-HT895 home theater system to go with his Panasonic 42" Plasma. He then went and got a $70 HDMI cable from Harveys. Anyway, he can't get the sound from normal tv to play through it. DVDs work fine through it, but he's spent hours trying to get tv sound to go through it. He said he puts it onto the mode, and the TV goes muted, but no sound through the home theater. Was just wondering if anyone has this or knows what hes doing wrong? And remember, dvds and the radio etc play fine. |

IE/ Straight to the speakers. He needs to connect the TV audio out to the DVD/AMP and select this input when he wants to hear the TV sound. |

On the back of the TV there should be Audio outs, which you then plug into the inputs of the SC-HT895. On a side note HDMI can carry audio. (But not in your case) |

| 582428 | 2007-08-19 09:57:00 | Didn't know that! i guess you learn something everyday huh. So can it carry digital audio? HDMI also includes support for 8-channel uncompressed digital audio at 192 kHz sample rate with 24 bits/sample as well as any compressed stream such as Dolby Digital (en.wikipedia.org), or DTS (en.wikipedia.org). HDMI supports up to 8 channels of one-bit audio, such as that used on Super Audio CDs (en.wikipedia.org) at rates up to 4x that used by Super Audio CD. With version 1.3, HDMI now also supports lossless compressed streams such as Dolby TrueHD (en.wikipedia.org) and DTS-HD Master Audio (en.wikipedia.org). From wikipedia. |
