Will stick to the CDs and DVDs. At least Hollywood hasn't been able to cripple these yet but with BD+ they could..

581745 2007-08-16 22:00:00 The best reason not to purchase DRM multimedia is just that. it has DRM in the title.

I refuse to touch anything DRM with a 40-foot barge pole. (unless said pole has a program on the end of it specifically for removing the DRM part)

581746 2007-08-16 23:28:00 Then it goes without saying to stay far away from WMP11 too...chock-full-of DRMs and digital requirements. SurferJoe46 (51)

Google is actually closing their movie renting website due to lack of business.

581748 2007-08-17 03:21:00 Then it goes without saying to stay far away from WMP11 too...chock-full-of DRMs and digital requirements. I have been using WMP11 since it came out and I have never had any DRM issues with it... and I play everything (OK, not what some of you sick people might be thinking about now :p ) and I have no issues... :2cents The_End_Of_Reality (334)
581749 2007-08-17 04:14:00 I have been using WMP11 since it came out and I have never had any DRM issues with it . . . and I play everything (OK, not what some of you sick people might be thinking about now :p ) and I have no issues . . . :2cents

There have been people here in my neighborhood (US) with whom I am familiar who have lost the ability to play any of their own videos, recorded by them on their own recorders . . . like weddings, Uncle Fred's Sex Change Operation and even vids they ripped in other WMP versions and now cannot even see them again .

I had to burn down a whole XP installation that went to v11 because it would not play even MP3s that I had played in v9 . I reloaded the whole thing including SP-2, and went directly to v10 . . . THEN got all the rest of the updates .

That puter keeps on asking me if I'd like to upgrade to v11 . . . HAH! No way, Jose!

Been there; done it; ain't going back there again!

I guess it's not a NZ thing . . . but it IS a US thing .

581750 2007-08-17 04:19:00 Why not try using a non Microsoft media player that isn't constricted by DRM? winmacguy (3367)
581751 2007-08-17 04:32:00 Oh...I do....I use others but this in particularly bugs the snot outta me.... SurferJoe46 (51)
581752 2007-08-17 04:54:00 Well all I can say is it must be what you are doing... cause I have never had an issue... The_End_Of_Reality (334)
581753 2007-08-17 05:36:00 I use WMP11 occasionally at home and here at work and have never seen any of that kind of behavior.

Though I agree, DRM is evil and must be stopped. I use GOM Player as my default these days...very good.
