581968 2007-08-18 07:38:00 Surely you would just have your PC feeding purely digital directly to an amp, rather then all these crap devices to playback redundant media (Cassette, CD, LP)

Isn't that what most people do now?

581970 2007-08-18 08:09:00 Are you telling me that you can't afford to plug your PC into your stereo either wirelessly or by cable so that you can have a large play list?  I didn't think it was that hard or costly to do. winmacguy (3367)

Not an optical input directly into an amp. I use the cheap method of RCA cables into a mini-system.

That works for me and probably for most people. :)

581973 2007-08-19 05:03:00 Anyone remember seeing the guy on "Beyond 2000" tell us that we would be able tod eat our dinner off a CD then wash it and put it in the player and it would still work? Morgenmuffel (187)
581974 2007-08-19 05:05:00 I remember that when they first came out. winmacguy (3367)
581975 2007-08-19 07:06:00 I was sucked in by the marketing, I treated my first few CD's as I did casettes, But lo and behold, they were nearly as weak as records, cheaper to produce and sold for more, and less capable as audio containers.

Record companies wet dream.

Sell you something that has all the same faults, Is worse at its intended job, and costs nothing to produce.
