| 581032 | 2007-08-15 03:08:00 | We live in Pakuranga, a suburb of Manukau City. Yesterday in our mailbox we got a leaflet from this guy who's running for mayor. His name? Dick Quax! :lol: Dick Quax has been running for Mayor for years. His reputation as an Olympic medal winning athlete used to give him some credibility but its been a while now. Manukau will get a new Mayor one day as Sir Barry is not getting any younger and attends more meetings and openings etc than there are days in a year, it is a busy life for an old man I guess. |

One of our great middle distance runners who is in the same category as John Walker, Peter Snell and British middle distance runner Sir Sebastian Coe. They peaked during the late 70's and early 80's. Round about the time that David Lange was PM. If my memory serves me correctly Dick Quax and John Walker were understudies of the legendary Arthur Lydyard. (pardon my spelling) |

If you think that name is odd, what about Wayne Kerr. We used to have a Wayne Kerr motors near where we used to live. |
