| 760725 | 2009-03-30 06:06:00 | Ok I have cpanel and all the associated bumpf that goes with it and making backups of mysql databases is a doddle, it saves them as databasename.sql.gz, but I have to do this manually, what i want to do is to have it automatically create backups and save them to a folder outside of the webroot and to have the date as part of the file name eg dbname_date.sql.gz But I cannot see a way to do this using cpanel any ideas or suggestions, I also realise I will need to use the cron job thingie to make it run every few days and also I will need to get a function to delete any backups that are over a certain number of days old |

If you have administrative privledges over cpanel (ie you own the server running it) then there should be an option to backup the entire account which would include your databases I assume If your using it under just your account on someone elses server I dont think you can, unless the host can sort something |
