| 760599 | 2009-03-29 22:28:00 | Hi all I am currently trying to sort out an images folder for someones shop Problem is this, there are literally thousands of images in this folder and a high proportion have been put up unoptimised, this isn't a problem for the store as the store software makes an optimised version of the image and stores it in an image cache folder The problem is that these original files take up a huge amount of space on the server, I have been downloading images about 50 at a time optimising them and then reuploading them, but i notice that the ftp clients i have been using don't show all the files, they seem to only show the first few thousand or so, and when i have tried to view the folder online the page times out before everything is shown. Am I missing something obvious, the folder was over 500mb, i have trimmed it down to around 320mb just by optimising a few hundred images, but there are subdirectories in the image folder, that i just don't see I am assuming because the folders are timing out before I get a complete listing eg FireFTP tells me there are 1998 objects in the images folder but i know there should be more, and i have a feeling that 1998 is one of those magic numbers in computing meaning a limit has been reached. Any help would be much appreciated |

Yes I thought about that, but I haven't been able to find a script that checks thejpgs "quality" setting as they vary from 99% to 65% on the server images and I would want it to ignore any that are below 75% |
