760264 2009-03-28 21:09:00 Was shutting down my computer last night before going home, when I got an alert from my avast that it had found a virus in my firewall appl. I had the option to delete it or ignore it,( which avast recommeded I ignore it),so I hit the ignore button and avast went straight into a full scan.As I was on my way out the door,I let it do its thing.
When I got to work this morning,I fired up my computer, and to my surprise, not only was the firewall gone completely, but also avast, both programs completely gone
This was weird.
Earlier in the day I had run a full scan with avast and it said all clear.

I downloaded avast again this morning, and ran a boot scan, all clear.

The firewall I had was called Vista Firewall, which I have been using for 12mths with no problems.

Any one have any idea on whats caused this,I'm stumped.

760266 2009-03-28 23:47:00 What do you mean by "Vista Firewall"?

Sounds like a rogue application to me!, and you said it "disappeared" so it can't be the Windows inbuilt firewall.

Download Trojan Remover and perform a scan

760267 2009-03-29 02:06:00 You can find the firewall quite easy if you google.
I had spent yesterday doing scans with the various spy/malware programs that I have,( most found in this forum in members signatures), and I also did a full system scan with Avast about noon yesterday, all scans gave a cean result.I've changed nothing for on my comp for about 6months.I'm fairly knowledgable with computers and confident in what I can do with them, but this just stumps me.

760268 2009-03-29 02:10:00 Nothing shows in Events viewer relating to this.
I went through everything.I thought I might have seen avast in there for yesterday, considering I did a full scan, but nothing shown.

760270 2009-03-29 03:01:00 These things happen! A couple of months ago I was installing a Point of Sale program into a computer which had AVG security and Zone Alarm. When the system was rebooted both AVG & Zone alarm had gone, even the folders had gone. Sorted it out and installed Comodo AV & Firewall, made an Acronis backup and then reinstalled the Point of Sale Demo. This time nothing happened. I have no idea what the fuss was about! mzee (3324)
