This poor bugger has had so much bad luck. Can't we PF1ers set up a small fund to give the guy a hand?

Perhaps someone like Laura could manage it - all it would take is for a bank account to be set up, and for us all to donate just a few dollars into the account.

Please folks, let's help Dean Harnett.

581771 2007-08-16 23:00:00 I've donated every two weeks for the last 24 years.

It's called Income Tax.

I'm sure if he goes to WINZ or something similar, he'll be more than compensated for his loss.

And yes, I empathise with the guy, there are some real ****heads out there, but there may be better avenues for him.

581772 2007-08-16 23:08:00 That's a bloody callous attitude mate.

How can you possibly empathise with him? Have you had his disease before, or his level of debilitation?

Remember that this is a typical Kiwi bloke - he possibly even helped you fly safely when he worked as an aircraft engineer.

That's one of the weakest lines i have ever heard . I'm sick of people using that as an excuse for whatever reason they need to hand over money .

"Hell no, i pay my taxes" .

Dean is a smart man by saying "people only look out for themselves" . He was damn right . I pay income tax, but i also donate to Greenpeace every month aswell .

Should my income tax be covering that to ? Im a student with a 40K student loan, knee deep in overdraft and a CC . But somehow i still find away to donate to a certain cause .

Give me a bank account and i will gladly deposit some small change .

Karma, Mr . Allblack, it's a wonderful thing .

Nope. Not callous.

But you and I pay our taxes to support those who need the support. (Unfortunately we also support those who don't!).

I'm not saying the guy hasn't had it rough, but my guess is there are agencies out there who are better equipped to give the guy a step-up when needed.

Good try! :D But nah!

If govt/social agencies turn him down, then come back and I'll send some $$$'s.

581778 2007-08-16 23:30:00 I definitley wouldn't mind giving him a bit of spare change, the poor old guy's been through a lot. The kind of ****head that would do that to someone, espcially someone in his position needs their heads examined :( wratterus (105)

. . . . or better still, removed .

Greg, how about I hold onto my coin and get a blunt, rusty blade instead?

Will that do?
