581524 2007-08-16 06:39:00 Can anyone tell me why One Auckland News finds a loan shark at the casino worthy of the lead story about three days in a row. Maybe it justified two minutes on Close Up - but otherwise I have no idea why they think it is newsworthy. Twelvevolts (5457)

Because all the news comes from Auckland or so they would have us believe.

Flat earth comes to mind

581526 2007-08-16 07:04:00 Because
A) Its rife
B)The casinos won't admit it.

Makes for newsworthy scandals. In their opinions.

581527 2007-08-16 07:28:00 I won't be surprised if there are a couple of kidnappings or murders in the next few days... somebody (208)

581529 2007-08-16 08:46:00 I have noticed many times both one & 3News channels get hard up for good news stories at times.

They start repeating the same News story over several days or they drag up non intresting and not really news worthy stories.
One of the biggest things they do is use Sport news as News headlines only to repeat the exact same story in the Sporting News.

Thats one good thing about Prime News, 30min they don't have to fill it up with crap to make up the time.

581530 2007-08-16 09:14:00 But it's been going on since they opened. Nothing new.A slow news day will do it every time. Same deal for the 'scandal' about Air NZ being chartered to transport Aussie troops to the Middle East. Big deal, so what! johcar (6283)

Actually you have a good point.
30 minutes is enough for me.

If I do not get home at 5:30PM then I try channel3.

Other times I use www.nzcity.co.nz

Or PressF1 even. :-)

Or BBC, CNN etcetera.

Being as Beetle is running out of "dots" I will donate a few periods or full stops. Some periods apply to women only. Some apply to the Moon. Some apply in other ways.

Here Beetle. Have some "dots"

Freely donated!

581532 2007-08-16 13:04:00 I usually just watch the French news (6-6.30) and then German news (7-7.40?) and that gives me my quick fix of news. beeswax34 (63)
581533 2007-08-17 01:55:00 The Casino loan shark story was an old-school journalistic scoop for TV One. I don't blame them for pushing it hard. News-time advertising is the most expensive time they can sell, too, and it pays for the cost of running a newsroom. Not only that, but good investigative journalism is in short supply in NZ.
