583796 2007-08-22 10:02:00 New series advertised on TV2 tonight, called The Nine, turns out the show is so boring it was cancled before the end of its first seasion because of poor ratings.

They punted for a second season which was just as awful and viewers stayed away in droves, and the end was never shown - no one seemed to care.

Gee its good to see TV2 is buying quality....

583799 2007-08-23 01:11:00 This is neither the first nor last time TVNZ and TV3 have done this. I wonder whether they bought the rights to such series much earlier, before they got cancelled, and just end up stuck with a lemon?

But it is odd how they try to promoate such programs in prime time.

583800 2007-08-23 03:10:00 I think you will find that programs are sold in bundles, So (for example) a network wishes to buy a certain hit such as ER they can only get it with a crappy sitcom and a failed drama.

This way the seller gets money back from all their investment's (100 sell rate, woohoo, Lookin good to the investors) and TVNZ has a bunch of crap...which in the hope of making back some coin they throw into prime time in the hope the audience (whom they know to be retarded) will watch it in sufficient numbers that they can sell some of that advertising space at a premium.

And in turn make back some of their investment (or cream it for gold) in the event it doesn't work then they ditch it, and whack something else in its place equally as bad and just as heavily promoted, in the hope that their retarded audience watches in sufficient numbers to sell some of that advertising space...

And in turn, Television isn't worth watching.
