| 583167 | 2007-08-20 22:04:00 | Hi guys, I'm off to the press launch of Yahoo/Xtra's new baby, 'bubble' on Thursday. If you have any questions you'd like me to ask Yahoo and Telecom on Friday, post them here and I'll do my best to get them answered at the event. cheers, Jan |

| 583169 | 2007-08-20 22:49:00 | "Who's going to be Xtra's next partner after they move on from Yahoo (as they did with MSN)? Could it be Google? And what happens to Xtra's customers' confidential information held by Yahoo when Xtra do decide to end their partnership?" | Greg (193) | ||
| 583170 | 2007-08-20 23:52:00 | Another question: WHY? & WHY? :confused::confused: |

| 583171 | 2007-08-21 00:13:00 | Can we have the "plain old ordinary" webmail back, please. I do not want yahoo anything on my computer. Thanks. PJ | Poppa John (284) | ||

I am quite impressed with the new email system now that I have got it finally working. I now provides Unlimited diskspace, what other NZ isp offers this? It also has a more modern and feature rich webmail. They have also removed the blocking of other ISPs accessing pop3.xtra.co.nz, so I can . What I would like to know is whether this will continue. With software ISPs will always need to upgrade, and this doesn't alway go smoothly. At least xtra did it in the weekend. It wasn't that long ago when both telstra and ihug/vodafone had major problems with their email systems, so it is not just xtra that has problems with their email. |

| 583174 | 2007-08-21 01:12:00 | (1) Their spokesman has been reported as saying the Yahoo change has been in planning for a year. So why were Xtra customers given their first info about it - via email - only a few days beforehand? (2) And why was that info so inadequate - telling customers merely that there'd be changes, but not what they'd be? (I don't mean this weekend's email muckup - rather the long-term differences arising in Xtramail. Promising more aliases/mailboxes is all very well, but people want to know what overall difference joining with Yahoo! will make. Or not? The point is there's been no information about this. Their PR team should be sacked) |

I now provides Unlimited diskspace, what other NZ isp offers this?Last I heard, Yahoo isn't an ISP. So think about it... a minor South Pacific country ISP starts fondling with a major International Search and services Internet business, who's giving them "unlimited" diskspace. You ain't numb enough to think that Yahoo are giving this to Xtra for free? Not blimmin likely. So who's gonna pay for it? Yep you guessed it - the schmucks who sign up for the new service, one way or another. I'm personally an en'th away from ditching Xtra because of this. |

| 583176 | 2007-08-21 01:21:00 | (1) Their spokesman has been reported as saying the Yahoo change has been in planning for a year. So why were Xtra customers given their first info about it - via email - only a few days beforehand? I think they may have made a major error, and forgot to send out the email about the change a month ago. This is because many people over the weekend received an email from xtra that says it was sent by xtra in July. Did they forget to send out this email in July when it should have been sent, and have pre-dated the email to july to cover themselves? (2) And why was that info so inadequate - telling customers merely that there'd be changes, but not what they'd be? I guess they expected it to go more smoothly than it did so didn't see the need to inform of problems that may have occur. Maybe they didn't know their would be problems. I huess it just goes to show that people should have backup email addresses, and not rely on their ISPs email address. The best email solution is your own domain name. |
