583067 2007-08-20 07:14:00 A poll relevant to all the recent finance companies collapsing. I am sure that there will be more to in the future, as many of these finance companies rely on a constant inflow of new investors, and people will now be apprehensive in investing in all of these companies, even the good ones. robbyp (2751)
583068 2007-08-20 07:16:00 I didn't get the poll option, will have to try again. robbyp (2751)

583070 2007-08-20 07:16:00 NO but then I didn't borrow to invest either and the only local money I have is in the bank. winmacguy (3367)
583071 2007-08-20 07:21:00 My money is in the bank, and my retirement fund is still looking pretty good. winmacguy (3367)

The bank is a good safe option. However banks too can go bankrupt. eg. the BNZ and the PSIS (although it isn't really a bank) The thing is to choose a big high quality bank, such as some of the main Australian ones.

The ASB is looking pretty good and I am pretty happy with where I have our savings and retirement/kids future uni fund.(savings and retirement funds are in 2 different places to spread the risk.)

583074 2007-08-20 08:37:00 Was this thread started before the announcement that Nathans Finance has just gone belly up?

Just curious.

583076 2007-08-20 09:58:00 I'm just curious to know why anyone who had lost money that way would be likely to say so here?

No bonus in it that I can see - just a bunch of people either
(a) making sympathetic noises that won't bring the cash back

or
(b) dealing out too-late "advice" about what they should have done with their money. Possibly rather smugly...

Who'd need that?
