583227 2007-08-31 13:29:00 Pray tell me oh knowledgeable one, where does the money come from for them to sponsor anything?

From people who pay them for a crap service. Then they sponsor people to get more people to sign up for their crap service. The more customers, the worse the service. Contetion rates go out the window, for crux sake they are sending all thier local traffic through the Southern Cross cable slowing down all international traffic.

The problem is that when it comes to service small is better. Telecom should have concentrated on the network instead of trying to put ISP's out of buisness. And lastly. what do you think the 1.2 billion Yahoo paid for this entry into NZ internet is going to be spent on? better service or more sponsorship/advertising or PR? I think the latter is more likley.

Well, I’ve ditched both Telstra Clear and Vodafone because they were as bad and I fear Telecom still rule the roost and will make sure all the other ISP’s suffer whilst they try to maintain their customers.

Does anybody know if traffic from say Slingshot, or I-Hug, will be diverted via the Southern Cross cable to and from Aus.

How are those on other ISP’s finding things?

I still haven’t got my Webmail Address Book and will certainly change to another provider as long as it’s not just more of the same.

At the moment I’m getting Spamed off the internet which is not helping my composure.

Who did you go to Andrew?

ICONZ (www.iconz.co.nz) - so far I am happy with the switch (which went without a wrinkle) and service (you can actually speak to a real person, who is based in NZ!). It is most probably the same routers and switches in the local exchange - they now terminate at ICONZ in Auckland instead of Xtra which could be anywhere....
