2007-08-21 10:23:00 | What does the webmail interface have to do with SPAM or Virus filtering? The last upgrade to Xtra's email system including the webmail interface was June 2006. This was said to have cost $20M. m-net.net.nz Maybe you attract a different variety of SPAM but the filtering was OK here. My Yahoo account got more junk than the Xtra one. Edit: Maybe Xtra could explain why they threw that $20M down the drain? I believe the spam and virus filtering for xtra email accounts, is all configured from inside webmail. $20 million on improving webmail, and who was accusing xtra of not reinvesting. The old webmail would not have been compatible with yahoos systems, otherwise I am sure telecom would ahve continued to use it. Those xtra customers who have still got the old interface with their domain name, I would be interested to know if their email is still hosted in NZ and is associated with yahoo in anyway.

2007-08-21 10:36:00 | It is a long time since anybody found Xtra to be suffering from an attack of competency, humility or honesty. Apparently the vaccine is still resisting attacks. ;) | R2x1 (4628) | |
2007-08-21 12:10:00 | Why has the speed of my emails turned to complete ****??? my inbox has a mere 1.99MB of 11 emails in it, according to OE, and yet I cannot do a thing about it, OE times out before it's even finished the download of one email. It's as if I was using a 9.6Kbps dialup modem with the noisiest ******* line in the whole of new zealand Xtra email used to be damn fast, now it's just dying constantly on me, I have to use the piece of **** new webmail account that takes almost as long to load What the hell is wrong with them??? what drugs have they been taking???

2007-08-21 23:18:00 | And moving on from here www.nzherald.co.nz It looks like many will be leaving Xtra for good. | intel hunter (6666) | |
2007-08-22 00:40:00 | In the article quoted above, the company quoted as ready to take on customers who quit Telecom has only just recovered from its own email meltdown. | PaulD (232) | |
2007-08-22 01:58:00 | I've noticed that mail from various NZ company mailing lists, statement advice from the bank etc that wasn't interfered with or marked as spam by Xtra is now bulk binned by Yahoo. Will Yahoo/Xtra be proactive in sorting out their filter or will it be left to individuals? | PaulD (232) | |
2007-08-22 03:44:00 | In the article quoted above, the company quoted as ready to take on customers who quit Telecom has only just recovered from its own email meltdown. I was just about to mention that too about iSlug. It is funny how quickly people forget. From memory alot of ihug customers also lost a lot of their email, and it was also down for many days. It also wasn't that long ago when a lot of ihug website cusomters had their websites hacked and deleted, and ihug weren't able to restore them, so many companies lost their websites. source 10layers.com

Why cant I logon without allowing cookies The 'lack' of communication from a 'commincations' company is pretty appalling. Some of my legit emails were going into the junk bin such as from Corporate Direct, and I would have never known if hadn't gone into webmail. Popping it off the server, you can't tell what emails have been filtered. |
