2009-04-03 05:13:00 | was doing sfc /scannow and it blue screened with this code 0x0000009c (0x00000004,0x80546E70,0xB2000000,0x00070f0f) so really don't know points towards something dying

2009-04-03 05:21:00 | Repair Install? I still reckon it could be the hard drive...

2009-04-03 05:22:00 | Does it have the words "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION" after the error message ? If so from MS's error message meanings - This behavior occurs because your computer processor detected and reported an unrecoverable hardware error to Windows XP. To do this, the processor used the Machine Check Exception (MCE) feature of Pentium processors or the Machine Check Architecture (MCA) feature of some Pentium Pro processors. The following factors may cause this error message: System bus errors Memory errors that may include parity or Error Correction Code (ECC) problems Cache errors in the processor or hardware Translation Lookaside Buffers (TLB) errors in the processor Other CPU-vendor specific detected hardware problems Vendor-specific detected hardware problems

2009-04-03 05:24:00 | Yes it did Wainui funny though as it's an AMD machine, just re doing the chkdsk/r as I used a home CD last night by mistake and its XP pro don't know if that will make a difference. I can hear the HDD making odd noises. Time for a clone

2009-04-03 05:34:00 | XP Hm or XP Pro - doesn't matter which. What i would suggest is saving all data and reinstalling, a repair install prob wouldn't do much as if the hardware is failing that sometimes wont detect it. What you can try is Burnin Test (www.passmark.com) - the trial is 30 days more than enough time to test the hardware, under the configuration (from memory) - click on the screen shot there then scroll down the bottom of that page - test duty cycles ( thats the settings you want), untick every thing, then do single tests on CPU/Optical/RAM 2D/3D Graphics Disks - select 1 at a time and see if you can make the damn thing fail - that will tell you where the hardware problem is ( hopefully) if it passes then select the ones mentioned and run one test with them - it will load up the PC and may cause the failure to occur. SAVE the data first - did this once and it managed to over stress the PC and caused a total hardware failure --- OPPS :xmouth: - it was about to die anyway, the owner just wanted me to make it fail - good excuse to purchase a new one he said.

2009-04-03 05:34:00 | Heres that exact stop error (forums.amd.com) This guy had the same thing (club.cdfreaks.com) And rolled back the sata controller drivers and that fixed it. Are there any Nvidia sata controller drivers on this system?? There's a lot more in google (www.google.co.nz(0x00000004%2C0x80546E70%2C0xB 2000000%2C0x00070f0f)&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a)

Thought I would share the results here. Thanks to all who posted trying to help :thanks:thanks |
