2007-08-24 10:35:00 | I love reading, just never seem to find the time ... I'm a bit of a Sci-Fi/Fantasy fan, so I guess that won't help with suggestions. But, did you know there are free books available to download and read from the Baen Free Library (www.baen.com). :) I just finished 3 books of Terry Brooks!

2007-08-24 10:45:00 | Bill Bryson. I am currently re-reading A Short History of Nearly Everything, I wish that had been around when I was at school!! His books are full of his sense of humour, regardless of the the topic. Maybe you would like Dean Koontz novels. I read almost anything and everything..if nothing else available, will read the back of the weetbix packet. Cheers, Marnie

2007-08-24 13:14:00 | I am so with Marnie. I'll read everything and anything. Bill Bryson is absolutely hilarious. His book on Australia was great:lol: But yeah, Dan Brown (Angels and Demons kicks The Da Vinci code's a**), Jeremy Clarkson's book is a quite funny, Tom Clancy, and I would highly highly recommend James Clavell.

2007-08-24 16:48:00 | The Spellsinger series by Alan Dean Foster (the guy who wrote 'Alien') Its fantasy though . Its as funny as h3ll and has really good characters . The lead guy is a failed uni student that can conjure magic from his guitar playing . His second-in-command is an otter with a foul mouth and dubious social habits . Failing that, anything by Douglas Adams .

2007-08-24 22:38:00 | I remember reading the Spellsinger series about 20 years ago. If you enjoyed that series then check out Robert Silverberg, He has some stunning works aimed at the same sort of age group. Kingdoms of the Wall, The face of the waters, Into the land of the living are all excellent books.

2007-08-25 02:12:00 | Apparently there are some readable books by other than Terry Pratchett. Amazing. ;) | R2x1 (4628) | |
2007-08-25 03:38:00 | Apparently there are some readable books by other than Terry Pratchett. Amazing. ;) I liked Terry Pratchett. Fantasy but good! Currently reading William Somerset Maugham. Short stories. Almost sure that Maugham wrote a short story regarding the wife whom killed the husband using a frozen leg of lamb or mutton. The Police who investigated ate the murder weapon. Whoops. I had it wrong. "Lamb to the slaughter." By Roald Dahl. Just went to the Library and have it.
