| 582927 | 2007-08-20 22:56:00 | Bletch, not that I really give a sh*t, but I know others do... if given the chance, how quickly could you fix (not nuke) the forum clock?With root access to the server, less than two minutes to fix the time and install ntpd so it never happens again. Incidentally, all I did to kill the peel-me was to block the source (konqueror) "pcworld.co.nz that works too - I just prefer the CSS method, 'cause it does a lot more than just block the peel-me ad. In fact, only one line in that whole stylesheet has anything to do with peel-me. And yeah, somehow I don't see them paying me - plus even if they offered I'd rather the mods were paid, they do an awful lot more than I do round here. |

After the CSS, it all looks nice & clean. :D |

The forums are a sub-service of the magazine that many pay cash for. Since the advertising came in it seems that they want to scoop all the cream out of the milk. Some people resent having to pay for the blimmin glossy paper the mag is printed on just to satisy their advertisers, and then get hit with more bandwidth consumming and time wasting adverts on a help-forum that the likes of you and I contribute to to make it a success. |
