761518 2009-04-07 01:54:00 Thanks for the reply Blam. Already had it set at 70 though. stormdragon (6013)
761519 2009-04-07 05:53:00 How bad is the range?

It should be quite good, you could set up another repeater if you want.

Or you could make the antenna better with tinfoil....

761520 2009-04-07 08:29:00 Really bad. I'm going to try to take the router outside tomorrow with a laptop and see how far I get. stormdragon (6013)
761521 2009-04-07 12:15:00 Unfortunately the range on the gc models does seem to suck somewhat :-/ Im trying to figure out a way to do something about it from the software level ... Chilling_Silence (9)
761522 2009-04-07 23:53:00 Is there a significant improvement with the GU? If so might just convince the boss to go buy one. stormdragon (6013)
761523 2009-04-08 00:01:00 I have a GU and the range is great.

I do have 2,(1 set up as a repeater), but even with one I recall the range was reasonable good in the house

761524 2009-04-08 00:05:00 Cheers Blam, the setup going to be used in a bigger environment then a standard house, so was thinking of using repeaters anyway.

Do you guys reckon on of these (www.qmb.co.nz) would give the GC a significant boost?
stormdragon (6013)
761525 2009-04-08 00:20:00 It might-but its still omni directional so I wouldn't say for sure.

If most PCs are within a specific range of the router I would recommend a hi-gain directional antenna

761526 2009-04-08 11:45:00 Don't forget that boosting the router power is only one part of the equation. Not much use if the PC Tx can't get a signal back! linw (53)
761527 2009-04-09 04:43:00 Not specifically, AFAIK they ship with a 5dbi antenna, and that one you linked to is either a 5dbi or 6dbi == no gain :(

If Im wrong, and it ships with a 3dbi antenna, then possibly, yes, it would make a difference
