583558 2007-08-22 04:56:00 I thought you could text to overseas with a telecom phone. Given that people replace their phone every few years, CDMA will be supported in NZ for a good number of years. ALso telstras agreement with telecom could see CDMA retained in Austalia for longer too.

Yes but you can text to an overseas number but I don't think they can reply back.I dont think you can reply to a cdma message.Besides telecom mobiles are very ugly .I use symbian mobiles but telecom doesn't have any.

583559 2007-08-22 05:26:00 Free texting to 021 in the weekend owned!

Whoever brings that out (cmon Telstaclear!) will win me.

But I have a cheap 027 for texting, I barely send 500 texts.

583560 2007-08-22 20:12:00 I am with Vodaphone Pre-pay and they are a bit naughty.

I am on their straight motormouth plan, but If I go for Super-Pre Pay to get some free texts the cost of my mobile calls goes up !

I wonder I many people realise that.

583561 2007-08-23 21:32:00 Ninjabear, its only if you are -physically- overseas when trying to SEND the txt that you may run into issues. You can txt any txt-capable cellphone from Telecom, just like from Vodafone. They can reply too, it just will cost them of course, and they might have to configure their phone account or whatever, Im not big on the technical side of it, but its fully possible mate, absolutely!

Ive been OnAccount for about 18 months now, but last month I ended up sending 700txts over my 1,000 limit. I hate txting (So much room for mis-interpretation, lack of emotion, no 'tone' of voice to the msg etc), but being involved with Youth work, its so convenient to communicate with the youth.
Especially when you get into long txt-conversations when they're running into trouble in life, so Ive got my main Motorola v1075, as well a Nokia 1110 that I just bought a SupaPrepay SIM for and got Txt2000 for those long txt-convos. This should hopefully avoid another $300 phone bill :(

The Bestmate-related plans were supposed to be out in Feb / March according to initial press releases.

And Im yet to see a Telecom plan that can beat Txt2000, or BestMate for that matter!
Not that I personally have any experience, but my brother signed up for one of those Flexi plans, his phone bill WENT UP somehow over 6 months... :-/

583562 2007-08-23 23:02:00 Telecom has better low end plans imo.

So, if you want a phone purely for your lower end, Telecom would be the way to go?
Personally, I thought their service was a bit of a pain in that area, but, if it works for you - - -

583563 2007-08-24 02:22:00 If you spend ~$30 - $40 a month, Vodafones plans suck, and Telecoms are good. End of story. roddy_boy (4115)
