583177 2007-08-21 01:48:00 Hi guys,

I'm off to the press launch of Yahoo/Xtra's new baby, 'bubble' on Thursday.

If you have any questions you'd like me to ask Yahoo and Telecom on Friday, post them here and I'll do my best to get them answered at the event.

cheers,

Jan

Why not send Metla to ask the questions or would that just make the Telecom PR lot look more stupid than they already do?

583178 2007-08-21 01:57:00 Please, a consice set of Instructions, without the Self Promotional crap, that allows Xtra users to gain access to their Webmail without the need to join Yahoo.

I appreciate the "xtras" included with the new Webmail but Im NEVER opening a Yahoo account to take advantage of it.

583179 2007-08-21 02:01:00 Jan,
I would like to know why Xtra couldn't have given us a choice of staying with the current basic email services that work perfectly well or move to the alternative Yahoo!Bubble services that are all fluff and gloss.
I would prefer to stay with the existing basic Xtra email.

I'm with winmacguy on this one.
I don't object to Xtra hooking in with Yahoo for the added extras, other than webmail. Might even use those add-ons myself. But please leave the webmail as it was.
cheers,
Marnie

583182 2007-08-21 02:59:00 Hi Jan

The question I want asked, as others have pointed out, is why weren't we given the choice of retaining the existing webmail service? If this is a matter of winding down the servers etc that are involved, then why didn't they come out and say we have something like 12 months to migrate away from our reliance on webmail, rather than switch off the service over a weekend?

I am also curious to know the expected churn rate from the launch of this new service because I, after being a loyal customer for some years, am now looking at changing ISPs. I want a local service provider - not an Australian-based service, and I don't want to provide my personal details to an Australian organisation.

Lastly, how many jobs will be exported to Australia as a result of this change?

Thanks
Andrew

583183 2007-08-21 03:11:00 Also, why the sudden flood of spam since the weekend, when I had virtually none in the preceding weeks on my xtra account?

And who analysed the changeover process and who tested it beforehand (and have they been sacked)?

(Firefighting is not a good way to win friends and influence people!!)

583184 2007-08-21 03:45:00 If Telecom/xtra is so aweful, why are you with them? There's plenty of others.

If you're not with telecom what the hell are you all grizzling about.

I would suspect that the old webmail had reached the end of it's use by date as it was quite old. Its spam filtering was very poor. The new webmail is far more modern, and is supposed to include both spam and virus filtering.

583186 2007-08-21 04:44:00 Why is Xtra wasting its time and money on a new service that really no one asked for and are going to be confused by and stretch Xtra's awful customer service even more. beeswax34 (63)
