| 762026 | 2009-04-03 17:33:00 | Some of you may already know this; but to those who don't: For those having sound issues (sound not working) on some computers that use High def sound, I discovered something yesterday. Despite getting the latest sound drivers from my computer manufacturer, I had no sound at all. This was not due to wrong download (I checked this twice), but the fact my computer requires the UAA (support.microsoft.com) hotfix. Some chipset makers (in my case Realtek and their High Definition generic drivers) do have the UAA hotfix incorporated into the drivers. If you need to download/install the hotfix, and you would prefer to stick with the manufacturer drivers, then you will need to uninstall your sound drivers (from within Device Manager), install the hotfix, and then reinstall your drivers. |
