| 761537 | 2009-04-01 06:24:00 | My I/O shield for my mobo is about 1/4mm too wide for the space in my case. The mobo fits fine and aligns with the screwholes, just the shield doesn't. Also, what are studs/spacers, and where do I buy them? I thought Gigabyte would have supplied holders for the screws? |

| 761538 | 2009-04-01 06:32:00 | Spacers go between the mobo and case. So, it wont short If its brand new (and none came with it), go back to the shop and ask for them (spacers). Likewise for the I/O panel. If that doesnt fit take the mobo back, get another |

It'll fit in there if you just push it hard, sometimes they can be a bit tight As for motherboard standoffs - the case should come with them, not the motherboard. Each case is a different design so the standoffs have to be made to fit it. |

| 761541 | 2009-04-01 07:46:00 | The opening for the Cover plate should be 44mm wide x 160mm in height. Thats from a case of the same make. Just measured a standard cover plate and its the same measurements - as Agent_24 said they are tight. This may sound silly or I not trying to be smart, but you are putting it in correctly ??? (seen many problems where people have tried to install them incorrectly) With the mother board out - it pops in from the inside, the cover plate will have a lip - that goes in the hole, there is a edging of about 3 mm all the way around that stops it falling right through - some you do have to push quite hard, but it should snap into place. See bottom two pictures (images.google.co.nz 18%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26start%3D18%26um%3D1) Just be careful as the edges can be very sharp, and its easy to slice open your finger ( thats going from experience) then theres all sorts of (%^>{??&@ words :eek: followed by blood. |

Are you using an old case from an old HP computer and upgrading the motherboard etc? Sometimes HP and others design cases and the rest of the hardware etc specific to that model of PC. Sometimes there will be small differences. The motherboard standoffs may cause problems (you may not have enough of them etc) or they may only be in the right positions for the original board and are unmovable. Make sure you are not shorting anything out with any old standoffs! You will likely ruin your board if you power it on. However, the I/O Shield should fit. Interestingly the last PC I built had an I/O shield a lot tighter than most I've come across. Provided there's no weird bits sticking out from the hole in the case, and you are doing it the correct way then it should fit. Your I/O shield will probably have a bunch of nodules around the edges (just under the edge of the razor-sharp part) Apply firm pressure in the areas where these are, and it should pop right in.... Either way, the instructions provided on the link that Wainuitech posted should make it all make sense... |
