2009-04-01 05:09:00 | Hey Guys What would be the easiest and least troublesome way to get an Asus WL-520GC functioning as a wireless access point? Don't mind running an alternative firmware its just got to be stable as its going in a semi work environment. Yes I know DD-WRT will do it, whicj Chilly previously was recommending throughout these forums, but was reading he was having problems with it and changed to tomato which supports the GU not GC.

2009-04-01 05:51:00 | I still use DD-WRT on all my GC's. The stock firmware isnt *bad* but Ive had better results with DD-WRT. Any reason why you'd go for the GC over GU? Stock availability?

2009-04-01 06:07:00 | Which version of DD-WRT? This one didn't like me "Special ASUS Firmware (required for web flashing): *.trx dd-wrt.v24_mini_asus.trx" GC was already purchased. I just can't get the stock firmware to operate as pure ap.

2009-04-01 07:46:00 | It should be simple with the stock firmware. You hold the "EzSetup" button, then you run the software included on the cd, then select "Wireless Access point" as the option. Blam

2009-04-01 07:54:00 | Can you do it within the router GUI? | Blam (54) | |

2009-04-02 01:26:00 | Hey Chilly thanks for the documentation. I can't seem to flash the router though. Its currently on the latest from Asus, but I can't get it back to the old version you recommend before changing to DD-WRT. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

2009-04-07 00:05:00 | Finally managed to flash the router yesterday. Another question is there anything in DD-WRT I'd have to change to get a decent range out of it, as at the moment the range is extremely poor.

2009-04-07 00:53:00 | Go to the Wireless tab, then to Advanced Settings. Find the entry labeled Xmit Power, which is set by default at a paltry 28mW, and can be set up to 251mW Recommended value is around 70, try that and see if it helps
