| 761449 | 2009-04-01 02:31:00 | On the google main page, in the search box, as soon as I start typing, I get a million sites that have the letters I'm typing. I havn't even been to these sites! Yes I've tried going into my browser's settings and unchecking alot of things, history, auto complete, ect. It dosen't matter what browser I'm using Netscape or IE7. This only started today on it's own. Maybe a virus? Thanks for any help. |

| 761452 | 2009-04-01 03:47:00 | While I do not want to put down Google, sometimes a clustering search engine is a better idea if you do not want thousands of pages to sift through - and that is what you get with Google. I suggest you try www.clusty.com and if you search on, for example, elephants, you will find ten sub headings: African Elephants, Asian Elephants, Pink Elephants, etc which will enable you to narrow your search. After all, why would you want to search African or Asian when you really want to know what's causing those pink elephants you see after a session on the suds. The last search I did on elephants showed 233 pages but only 48 on African, 23 on Asian and none on pink. Oh well, I'll just have to put up with the pink variety.:o |

The function is good if you don't have a 6yr old in the house, some of those querrys were porno sites (no, not from me lol) This thread should be very helpful to others now that Google decided to arbtrarily make this function. | Eric55 (14787) | ||

OKAY - Found out why it reverts back -- By any chance do you use Ccleaner - or any other Temp / cookie cleaning software?? If you use Ccleaner - open the program, on the left under options, select cookies - find Google, highlight it click on the > button for cookies to keep. If you delete the Google cookie, it reverts back to the default settings of suggestions. |
