| 582808 | 2007-08-19 07:32:00 | Hi guys, well Ive put all my music on my pc and want to make up back discs so if i have to format etc i dont lose it all. So I bought a couple of DVDs and found it will tak 4Xstandard 4gig DVDs. I didnt think it would be that much! lol Anyways, are there other DVDs with more gig or if there is are they good to use for this type of file storing or can someone recommend a better way to back up this amount of music. Thank you all |

The eternal HD might be the better option as it would be easier to access the music on your PC when ever you want it without having to put the DVD in the DVD drive. | winmacguy (3367) | ||

Get a good quality DVD-DL maybe Verbatium. Nero depends on your version supports Double Layer DVD's. Set to DVD9 as opposed to DVD5 You will get slightly more on 4 x Single Layer DVD's than 2 Double Layer DVD's. About 4.3Gb on single and 8GB on a Double Layer. 4 x Single blanks is probably cheaper than 2 x doubles . |

| 582814 | 2007-08-19 08:57:00 | I have LG 18X Dual Channel DVD Writer SATA. Just running it off Nero for the burning. Is this the better way to store back up files? I have a friend who just said he just bought an external harddrive and just backs up to that... |

| 582815 | 2007-08-19 09:02:00 | Important stuff I back up to both. Slightly less important stuff just to DVD, but sometimes twice. Less important just to DVD once and so on. Works for me. I also find that I get less coasters burning slower than recommended speed than the DVD Blank suggests. |

| 582817 | 2007-08-19 10:04:00 | When I use Verbatim, I normally write at 16X speed. 95% of the time I don't have any problems. You can never backup to many times. Trust me I know... I had Backups, but just wasn't enough. The Police found my Clandestine Lab, (by accident might I add) the Police took my comps as evidence and would only give them back if the wiped everything off them. Then while I was in custody my house got robbed and they took my external hard drives (Backups) and most of my discs were taken. which included all my backups. "the Barstar*ds!" So I lost everything. Had a huge collection of stuff too, including lots of vaulable pics. I always say, backup, backup, backup. Being in the game was the risk I took. I just thought I had backed up enough. Shouldv'e keep off site backups. However that was then this is now. Anyways Rob, I would go with the single layer discs as they are much cheaper than DL. |
