762261 2009-04-04 08:00:00 Hey Everybody

My new Computer will start up every now and again when I try to start it up and then power off when nothing happens:badpc:. Nothing appears on screen at all. It hasn't gone into BIOS cause I have to hold down the power key for 3 seconds. The CPU fan does spin but the graphic card and the rest of them do.

The specs are
CPU: Q8200
Ram: 2GB Power memory 800mhz
PSU: Silverstone Tek 500watt Strider series
Motherboard: Gigabyte EP43 UD3L

Please Help

762262 2009-04-04 08:14:00 Sorry. Your post makes no sense.

What fans actually start?

Do you mean the the CPU fan does NOT start? If so the CPU may well be overheating which would cause what you describe. Is there a lead from the CPU fan which is not plugged into the motherboard?

I try to start my PC up and most of the time it doesn't work. Eventually by turning on and turning off and turning back on does it finally work. All fans spin except CPU which Twitches and then stops. Screen is blank. LED's on Motherboard and DVD Drive work. Disconnecting all devices inside and out doesn't change anything.

Don't think CPU is overheating because it happens even after nights rest.

If the CPU fan does not spin your CPU can fry in seconds even after resting. It would appear that the CPU fan does not work. The bios may shut down to prevent damage to the CPU which is why you have these symptoms.

I am also not sure how you put the rig together. Did you use thermal paste between the cpu and heat sink. Was the heatsink and fan supplied with the CPU?

762266 2009-04-04 08:38:00 That's odd I haven't O.C. or anything. Should I change the fan speed to always be on maximum? Tomo (14561)
762267 2009-04-04 08:47:00 Have you plugged the fan cable into the CPU_FAN port?

Your PC is shutting down because the CPU is overheating!

762268 2009-04-04 08:48:00 Yes I have Tomo (14561)
762269 2009-04-04 08:54:00 BUT THE CPU FAN DOES NOT SPIN!

It gives a twitch so you say.

So therefore the fan is broken or whatever.

Sorry for the shouting.
