| 762226 | 2009-04-04 05:56:00 | Hi to all, Ive notice that for some time now when I use any program, but mostly opera and then I try to close it, the program aparently closes but when I open the task manager the program is still on the list and for some reason opera seems to consume a lot of memory, Sometimes if I close opera and then shut down the PC I get a close the non responsive program. Do you know what could be the problem?? thanks in advance! |

| 762230 | 2009-04-04 07:47:00 | When you open the task manager, IF Opera is not running, is the CPU usage high - if so look to see what is using it. Have you tried uninstalling Opera, and see what happens. |

| 762232 | 2009-04-05 02:58:00 | I noticed this on my wifes machine yesterday, with Thunderbird and volume control. I put it down to the fact that the machine had been on for a few weeks without restarting. |

| 762234 | 2009-04-05 05:15:00 | Opera needs a little time after closing to save data to the hard drive . It consumes less memory than other browsers when in use but I have noticed that the memory usage does "spike" when closing . If you have updated your version several times over the top of the previous installation, especially between major revisions, then it would help to do a completely fresh install to clean out all the redundant code that is likely to be dragging it down . You should notice a big improvement in performance if this is done . The other thing that can cause a slow close down is having your disk cache setting on the high side . If yours is set to higher than the default try reducing it and see if it makes a difference . |
