584639 2007-08-26 01:01:00 I've had really bad eczema this winter & I can't get any more of the cream I've been using because it has to be brought in from Australia so will be too expensive. My boss got some for his daughter, but it didn't work for her, so he gave it to me.

What has worked for you? I've found that exposing my skin to sunlight & open air is the most effective, but you would have to be crazy to go outside topless & wearing shorts in a Southland winter.

584640 2007-08-26 01:09:00 There's a cream called "Beta Cream" which has worked for me in the past. It's heavily subsidised by Pharmac (at least it used to be). somebody (208)
584641 2007-08-26 01:14:00 sun and open air makes it worse for me..um..
my conditions might not be exactly the as yours, but I've used keri's daily moisturising lotion
that one seems to work well for me

also used neutrogena's oil-free mosture, but that is half sunscreen too
recently got eau thermale avene's antirougeurs.. yea..
not much comment on that one really..half sun-screen too though

just go into a pharmacy and ask around, most seem to have a shelf for skin care and some products to choose from

so what's this cream from Australia? I don't mind looking around for it if it works well for you

oh nearly forgot..clinique's moisture surge extra works well too
but that's quite expensive
also something weird I noticed..
if you don't use it often, it's very effective when you apply it
but if you continuously use it, then the effect is not as obvious
maybe it's just because of my weird skin..um..

584642 2007-08-26 01:17:00 My doc always prescribed Dermovate (very strong) and Locoid (not as strong, but care still needs to be taken re: over-application). Been ages since I used either though
A little sun is okay, but when you start getting sunburnt, not so good

584644 2007-08-26 02:15:00 I have excema

I always have to use moisturizing cream after shower and when the weather is hot my skin becomes really itchy.

There are 3 creams which you can use for excema.See your doctor

The first one is a fragrent free cream which can be applied anytime you like and doesn't cause any harm.its equivalent to moisturizing cream although that cream is design for ezecma. The cream is nutra plus

The 2nd one is err can't remember the name but for moderate itchness.

The 3rd one is extreme cases and should only be used when you are extremely itchy

I find moisturizing cream works really well.keep your skin moisturize and it should be fine

584645 2007-08-26 02:17:00 Locoid

Is what my son was always prescribed.
He had it right from when he was a baby.

The best thing used to be swimming in the sea water, it was marvellous. Being Southland though......

584646 2007-08-26 02:32:00 Eww eczema.

All I know about it is to avoid using soap - use an unfragranced body oil to wash with.

584647 2007-08-26 02:40:00 Wash your clothes with something like Lux Flakes, do not use the normal washing powders. It will clog up your washing machine but if this works it will be worth it.

What is the name of the cream you were using?
