762291 2009-04-05 06:03:00 Still no change. No warning what so ever

Do you agree its time to send it back?

762292 2009-04-05 06:28:00 So the CPU fan warning is ON and when the Fan fails to start, there is No warning Beeeeeep?

If thats correct then there is something wrong - it should give some sort of warning.

What I would suggest is contact the shop you purchased the Board from - tell them EXACTLY what happens and every test you have done - that way they will be able to have all the information.

A BIOS Flash may fix it - but you shouldn't have to do that, if you did and it didn't work then they could say it was the failed flash that caused the problem.

Where did you purchase the Motherboard from ?

762293 2009-04-05 07:12:00 But if the board is taken out which I agree is the best method to bench test there will not be the case speaker attched and therefore possibly no beeps.

As you know a normally working computer will give one beep on post.

There is no beep or warning. Pc normally beeps after successful boot (did inside case).
Have flashed the BIOS no difference.
I got the motherboard from Paragrams PC and yes I will tell them everything I have done

Thanks for the test and suggusting a motherboard failure :thanks

Thats true - some boards have an onboard speaker though -

Tomo - with the board out of the PC reconnect the front headers from the case - normally they give you plenty of cable length to sit the board outside the case and still connect - see if you get the beeeeeep from no fan that way.

Either way - if the CPU fan is not starting up, there is a problem.

762296 2009-04-05 09:07:00 Will do later
Do you have anymore tests up your sleeve if it fails?
Tomo (14561)
762297 2009-04-05 09:36:00 Not really - if the CPU fan still wont run, and/or the beep is not sounding, apart from changing the COMOS battery - cant think of anything else.

The fan not running along with no actual graphics all happening at the same time would indicate the problem is related.

You could always try the drop test :D (only kidding)

762298 2009-04-06 00:14:00 Hey there Tomo
I have an old pc that does the same thing, except i have never bothered opening the case to see if the cpu fan is spinning or not. I just rebooted and it would start, lazy eh:rolleyes:
I think the pc is 5 years old now, P4 2.8 socket 478, and is my file server running linux. But it would start with no screen and no beep, but there is a fan spinning (assume it is the power supply), and have a green power light, but no hard drive activity. I just press reset and away she goes...still does it today about every ten or so starts.
I should have tried to get to the bottom of the problem, bit late to do a warranty claim now eh :groan:

Right i'm going to send it back soon
contacted Gigabyte and they have others to contact if the place doesn't accept it. Thanks so much for your help again :thanks

762300 2009-04-11 00:12:00 Just waiting for a reply from the place and I was thinking and remembered some other stuff.

The computer doesn't wake up from sleep sometimes. I have the sleep mode in S3 Suspend to RAM. Not sure if CPU fan doesn't go if I can start up will have a look. Will also change sleep mode to S1 and see if it makes a difference

Secondly the power supply I used in a Dell Dimension... and it to had a bit of problems starting up. When I replaced the power supply back, no problems at all. So is it possibly a faulty power supply as well?

Sorry for late info
Better late than never
