| 762180 | 2009-04-05 04:06:00 | My concerns about vista is the Media and Blogs bashing it to death about it's sluggishness uncompatible issues and the long list of problems.... About the Beta, I cant download it from Microsoft, and I didnt Buy PC World mag. Last month so i dont have the Beta :horrified. Also I plan on using the Computer for a hell of a lot of files (spreadsheet to whatever else there is) so I need an OS that is stable and wont crash... :thanks And what the hell does RC1 mean? A lot of people bash Vista without giving it a proper go - they assume that since it's different to XP, and other people bash it, that it's bad. Admittedly, the original release of Vista wasn't great - it was sluggish, and wasn't the most stable (although I didn't personally have any problems with it). SP1 did a fantastic job at fixing those problems, and makes it a perfectly usable (and good) operating system. Unfortunately it still holds on to its bad reputation though. Comodo's Defence+ kicks UAC all the way to Pluto How so? |

| 762183 | 2009-04-06 05:44:00 | I have been using Windows XP Home for a few years and it hasn't given me a problem. It runs my Flight Simulator setup well and does everything else. I just put the above because I thought should add what I think and there was no mention of sticking with Windows XP. |

| 762184 | 2009-04-06 06:03:00 | Should I load Ubuntu onto a new computer and live with it until Windows 7 release next year, or should I buy Vista Home basic and put up with it until Windows 7? "Live with it" doesn't sound like you are that keen on Linux. Have you used Ubuntu before? Used, not installed and opened a few things. So Vista isnt that bad huh? So you guys are telling me that I should Get Windows Vista Home Premium OEM after July and free upgrade to Windows 7?I have Vista Home Premium on my Laptop (as well as Ubuntu) and I have no problems with Vista. I fail to see why some people get hysterical about the User Account Control (UAC) :illogical. It is just a single click every now and again. I would recommend Vista Home Premium to anyone wanting a Windows OS. As you sound a reluctant Linux user, I would go for Vista with the added upgrade to Windows 7. Windows 7 is where you want to end up from your comments. If you don't mind a learning curve, then give Ubuntu a go. It's free, you have nothing to lose. Just remember it is not Windows and does many things very differently. |

| 762185 | 2009-04-06 06:35:00 | I like Vista. I haven't had a single problem with it. The only thing I find slightly irritating is the UAC but thats all to do with added security so I'm happy to have a couple extra clicks here & there to keep the baddies outa my system. For everyone that has ever thought "Vista sucks!" --> www.microsoft.com click the "mojave experiment" |
