762166 2009-04-04 07:50:00 Thats what makes me laugh , many people think W7 Is so much different to Vista - Its NOT, only maybe in performance and some features. With more bloat, and therefore more bugs

Oh well, look on the bright side. With UAC, spyware and virus attacks are on the decrease

Yeah right

Totally agree - W7 IS built from Vista.

762170 2009-04-04 22:25:00 Fair Enough,

So I will get a free upgrade to windows 7 if I buy Windows Vista Home Premium (The Actual one, not OEM) after July?

Lol, why the hell is microsoft trying so hard to rebrand Windows 7 when half the PC world know that its nearly the same?:annoyed:

What are your concerns about Vista? After SP1 came out, it's fine, but because of the mess that the original version was in, it has put a lot of people off.

There is currently no direct upgrade path between XP and Windows 7 - so you're better off going Vista -> Windows 7. In saying that, you would be silly to spend money on an OS now which you will be replacing in 12 months time.

Why don't you grab the Beta of Windows 7 (or RC1 when it comes out in the next few months), and run that? It's stable enough for home use, and won't cost you a cent.

762172 2009-04-04 22:42:00 RC1 comes out sometime in May, so rather than wait until July to buy Vista, just grab the RC then. However, there may not be an easy way to upgrade from the RC to the RTM version. pcuser42 (130)
762173 2009-04-04 22:49:00 My concerns about vista is the Media and Blogs bashing it to death about it's sluggishness uncompatible issues and the long list of problems....

About the Beta, I cant download it from Microsoft, and I didnt Buy PC World mag. Last month so i dont have the Beta :horrified. Also I plan on using the Computer for a hell of a lot of files (spreadsheet to whatever else there is) so I need an OS that is stable and wont crash...
:thanks

And what the hell does RC1 mean?
Sir Prospect (14735)
762174 2009-04-04 23:15:00 Vista well crash and freeze, yes, but only if you run it on a machine that is bordering MS's Mininum specs....

Run it on your E8400/Q8200 that you're getting, and it'll be a dream:D

RC1=Realease Candidate 1, pretty much meaning its almost evolved to a finished version, other than if major bugs occur. Also called gamma.

And I can send you the W7 cd if you really need it.
